My granddaughter, Zoe, triumphed at the Delaware State Fair in the Public Speaking Finals.
After Zoe won the Sussex County competition to qualify for the State Finals, she delivered an entertaining and animated speech to the delight of an audience of over one hundred.
With confidence and good humor she told the story of "Flip-Flop Rock". She spoke of her overnight camping trip with her father, uncle, brother, and cousins on an island the Adirondacks. Mishaps and challenges were woven into the tale of an overnight stay on an island that seemed to have a willful personality of its own. Did the island consume Nate's flip-flip? A lonely night in the wild can wake up anyone's imagination.
Moral of the story? Bring an extra pair of flip-flops.
